Dell XPS 15 (2020) Full Prices Revealed in Malaysia; Costs up to RM10,499
May 15, 2020 Andrew Cheng

As promised, the Dell XPS 15 is now available for purchase in Malaysia. When it was made official a couple of days ago, we only know the RM7,999 starting price of the premium productivity laptop. Now, we’ve got the full price list, and as expected, it’s a costly machine.

Four different configurations of the XPS 15 are offered locally. The RM7,999 base model features Intel’s 10th-generation Core i5-10300H processor paired with 8GB of RAM, 512GB of SSD storage, and a 15.6-inch 1920 x 1200 InfinityEdge non-touch display. If you need more processing power, you can swap out the Core i5 chip for a faster Core i7-10750H processor; this particular model retails at RM8,299.

And then there’s the RM9,999 variant of the XPS 15. Just like the previous configuration, it comes with a Core i7-10750H chip, but the RAM and SSD storage are doubled to 16GB and 1TB respectively. On top of that, the display is upgraded to a much sharper 15.6-inch 3840 x 2400 touch-enabled panel as well. This is the model to get if you want the best possible screen quality.

Finally, there’s the range-topping configuration of the XPS 15 that costs a cool RM10,499. For the most part, it shares the same hardware as the RM9,999 option, but you’re getting 32GB of RAM instead. Basically, you’re paying additional RM500 for the RAM upgrade.

Regardless of which variant you go for, all configurations of the XPS 15 come with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Max-Q GPU with 4GB of GDDR6 memory; there’s no option for integrated graphics. This does explain why the starting price of the premium laptop is considerably higher than other markets.

Besides that, all models of the XPS 15 for the Malaysian market feature a sizeable 86WHr battery as well. This is a good thing, given that certain markets get a smaller 56WHr cell. Thanks to the large battery capacity, Dell promises that the XPS 15 “delivers the longest battery life of any 15-inch laptop.” The Full HD+ model, for one, is said to be able to return over 25 hours of battery life.

Compared to its predecessor, the new XPS 15 has a revamped InfinityEdge screen with very little bottom bezel, giving the laptop a very sleek-looking bezel-less design. The keyboard has been tweaked too: the keycaps are now 9.7% larger with less lattice in between the keys. The trackpad has also grown by 62%, so you get more space to work with.

The updated Dell XPS 15 is now available for purchase in Malaysia on the company’s online store. The RM7,999 starting price is steep, but it’s expected for a premium laptop of this calibre.
