Oppo just launched its latest mid-range smartphones in Malaysia, the Oppo Reno 3 series. As expected, we are getting the global variant of the Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro. Though it’s not quite as impressive as the China-only models, they are still reasonably sleek mid-range smartphones with a gradient finish on their back panels.

Out of the two devices, the Reno 3 Pro is naturally the higher-end offering. It comes with a 6.4-inch 1080p AMOLED display with relatively small bezels, and there is also an oblong-shaped hole-punch cutout on the top left of the screen. The cutout houses two selfie cameras: a 44MP f/2.4 primary shooter and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor.

Besides that, the Reno 3 Pro also comes with a quad camera system on the back. It is made up of a 64MP f/1.7 main shooter, a 13MP f/2.4 telephoto lens, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle sensor, and a 2MP f/2.4 monochrome camera. It’s quite a versatile camera system with three different focal lengths, which is not typically found in this segment.

Powering the Reno 3 Pro, on the other hand, is a MediaTek Helio P95 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM. Other specifications of this phone include 256GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, an in-screen fingerprint sensor, and ColorOS 7 based on Android 10 out of the box. It’s also worth noting that the Reno 3 Pro’s 4,025mAh battery supports 30W fast charging.

And then there’s the regular Reno 3. Given its more affordable price tag, it’s not quite as sophisticated as the Pro model. For one, it doesn’t have a hole-punch display. Instead, it features a more conventional 6.44-inch 1080p AMOLED screen with a waterdrop notch at the top. It doesn’t look quite as sleek, but at least it’s still an AMOLED panel.

Aside from that, the Reno 3 also comes with a quad camera configuration, though it’s a more pedestrian setup. It consists of a 48MP f/1.8 main camera, a 13MP f/2.4 telephoto shooter, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle lens, and a 2MP f/2.4 monochrome sensor. If you’re a big fan of selfies, you’ll be happy to know that the standard model retains the 44MP f/2.4 front-facing camera, but it doesn’t have the 2MP depth sensor.

Rounding out the specifications of the Reno 3 are a MediaTek Helio P90 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 4,025mAh battery with 30W fast charging, as well as an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

The Oppo Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro are now available for purchase in Malaysia. The standard model retails at RM1,699, while the Pro variant costs RM2,399. These are rather costly mid-range smartphones, though the Reno series has always occupied this price range.
