Realme has been mainly focusing on its mid-range offerings for the Malaysian market, but this may change in the near future. We have good reason to believe that the Chinese company’s current flagship, the Realme X50 Pro 5G, will be arriving in Malaysia very soon.
In our routine search of SIRIM’s database, we notice that Jie Communication registered a device with the model number RMX2075 last week on 30 April. A quick Google search shows that this is in fact the Realme X50 Pro, which was introduced in India back in February 2020.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, the X50 Pro is a fast high-end smartphone. Of course, with the inclusion of this SoC, 5G connectivity is also on board. When it comes to raw processing power, you will be getting the best performance with the Snapdragon 865 – at least, that’s the case in the Android space.
The display of the X50 Pro is worth a mention too: it’s a 6.44-inch 2400 x 1080 Super AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. While this is not the fastest panel we’ve seen on a smartphone, it’s still markedly better than a conventional display with a 60Hz refresh rate. Plus, it won’t be quite as power-hungry as faster 120Hz screens too.
Speaking of which, the X50 Pro has a reasonably big 4,200mAh dual-cell battery. A cell of this capacity should be able to comfortably offer (at the very least) a day’s worth of use, and if you do need to charge it up, the phone supports 65W “SuperDart” fast charging. According to Realme, the phone can be fully charged in only 35 minutes.
When it comes to photography, the X50 Pro features a quad camera system. The main sensor is a 64MP f/1.8 unit, and it’s complemented by an 8MP f/2.3 ultra-wide angle shooter, a 12MP f/2.5 telephoto lens, and a 2MP f/2.4 monochrome portrait camera. According to Realme, this camera configuration lets the phone do “20x hybrid zoom.”
Other specifications of the X50 Pro include two selfie cameras (32MP f/2.5 primary + 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle), up to 12GB of RAM, two storage options (128GB and 256GB), an in-screen fingerprint sensor, and Realme UI based on Android 10 out of the box.
It remains to be seen exactly when the Realme X50 Pro 5G will be launched in Malaysia, though we expect it to happen soon since it has appeared in SIRIM’s database. It’ll be interesting to see how much the X50 Pro costs here, given that it retails from 37,999 Indian rupee in India – that comes up to only about RM2,175.
