We’ve been closely following the Malaysian availability of the Xiaomi Mi 10 series, and after appearing in SIRIM’s database for quite some time now, Xiaomi Malaysia is finally teasing the arrival of its latest flagship smartphone. Chances are, the range-topping Mi 10 Pro will be launched here first on 22 April.
This teaser image of the Mi 10 series was posted by Xiaomi Malaysia on its social media accounts. The camera module shown in the teaser is that of the Mi 10 Pro, so at least we know the Pro model is coming to our market. It remains to be seen if the regular Mi 10 – or even the Mi 10 Lite – will be launched at the same time.
The headline feature of the Mi 10 Pro has to be its sophisticated quad camera system, which consists of a 108MP f/1.69 primary shooter, a 12MP f/2.0 telephoto lens (50mm), a longer 8MP f/2.0 telephoto sensor (94mm), and a 20MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle camera.
If this camera configuration looks familiar, that’s because it is: it’s the exact same camera hardware found in the Xiaomi Mi Note 10, just without the addition of a macro lens. That doesn’t mean it has the same camera performance, of course.
According to Xiaomi, improvements have been made in the software side of things with the Mi 10 Pro’s camera. It also gets performance boost from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset under the hood.
Speaking of which, you will definitely get an excellent level of performance with the Mi 10 Pro’s Snapdragon 865 chipset; this SoC is found in the majority of high-end smartphones launched this year, after all. Of course, you also get 5G connectivity with the Snapdragon 865.
Another interesting hardware of the Mi 10 Pro is its 6.67-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display with a hole-punch cutout on the top left of the screen for the 20MP f/2.0 selfie camera. What makes this panel particularly intriguing is its 90Hz refresh rate, which will noticeably improve motion clarity.
Rounding out the specifications of the Mi 10 Pro are up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of non-expandable storage, a 4,500mAh battery with support for 50W fast charging or 30W wirelessly, and an in-screen fingerprint sensor.
More details on the Malaysian availability of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is expected to be revealed on 22 April next week. Hopefully, the local pricing of the flagship smartphone will also be detailed then.
