OnePlus 8 Leaks Show Funky New “Interstellar Glow” Colour; 120Hz QHD+ Display on Board?

The OnePlus 7 series was launched back in May 2019, and there’s a good chance the OnePlus 8 devices will be unveiled even earlier this year. After all, a number of leaks surrounding the upcoming phones have started appearing, and the latest one reveals the standard model’s new “Interstellar Glow” colourway.

This new leak comes from Ishan Agarwal and WinFuture. Three colours of the OnePlus 8 are shown: the aforementioned Interstellar Glow shade, Glacial Green, and the more traditional Onyx Black. Out of the three colourways, the first one is definitely the most eye-catching and unique, though some may not be a fan of the bright colours.

While there’s a chance these leaks are not representative of the final version of the OnePlus 8, they do look very convincing. Plus, Agarwal has a pretty good track record – he got early details of the Samsung Galaxy S20 series right in the past. There’s a good chance these leaks are the real deal.

Anyway, looking at the renders, it seems like the OnePlus 8 will sport very similar design language as sister brand Oppo’s Find X2 Pro. Both phones have dual curved displays, along with hole-punch cutouts at the same position. There’s also the fact that the OnePlus 8 Pro is rumoured to feature a 6.78-inch QHD+ OLED display with a high 120Hz refresh rate – that closely resembles the X2 Pro’s panel.

Besides that, the OnePlus 8 series (like last year) is expected to consist of two variants: the standard OnePlus 8 and the higher-end OnePlus 8 Pro. The Pro is said to come with the mentioned 120Hz screen, while the regular model will feature a slightly slower – but still quite respectable – 90Hz panel.

Other rumoured specifications of the OnePlus 8 Pro include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM, two storage options (128GB or 256GB), a quad camera system (48MP + 48MP + 8MP + 5MP), a 16MP front-facing shooter, a 4,510mAh battery, and finally, an IP68 rating.

As for the (presumably) more affordable OnePlus 8, it’s said to come with the same chipset, RAM, and storage options as the Pro model. But it does feature a simpler triple camera configuration (48MP + 16MP + 2MP), a slightly smaller 4,300mAh battery, and unfortunately enough, no IP rating.

If these are the final design and specifications of the OnePlus 8 series, it’s shaping up to be a decent follow-up to the OnePlus 7 lineup. It’s not officially confirmed yet, but the OnePlus 8 smartphones are expected to be unveiled next month on 15 April 2020.
