Death Stranding Coming to PC on 2 June With New Features; Retails at RM239
March 3, 2020 Andrew Cheng

PC gamers will soon be able to experience Hideo Kojima’s latest masterpiece. Originally released for the PlayStation 4 system back on 8 November 2019, the PC version of Death Stranding is coming seven months later on 2 June 2020. On top of that, the PC version will get several new features too.

Among them is support for ultra-wide monitors, which is fantastic for a game like Death Stranding. After all, you’ll be traversing through awe-inspiring landscapes making deliveries in the game, so being able to see more of the environment will further enhance the gaming experience.

Of course, the many, many lengthy cinematic cutscenes of Death Stranding will also benefit from this. They will look that much better in ultra-wide resolution.

Besides that, Death Stranding will also support high frame rate on PC, though this does depend on how powerful your system is. Given that the game only runs at 30 frames per second on the PlayStation 4, the game will definitely feel more responsive on PC. That being said, it remains to be seen if there’s any frame rate cap.

Interestingly, the PC version of Death Stranding will also see the introduction of Photo Mode; a feature that is still not available on the PlayStation 4 version. But given that Photo Mode is coming to PC, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to assume that it’ll also be made available on Sony’s console in the near future.

On top of these additions, there appears to be some sort of crossover with Half-Life on the PC version of Death Stranding. This is shown with cosmetic items taken from Half-Life, including the headcrab, Alyx Vance’s gloves, and Gordon Freeman’s glasses. Of course, even the iconic valve from Valve’s logo makes an appearance, which is placed on the back of Sam Bridges’ head, the protagonist.

The PC version of Death Stranding is now available for pre-order on Steam and the Epic Games Store for RM239, and it will be released on 2 June 2020. As usual, there are a number of pre-order goodies, which include HD wallpapers of the game, special cosmetic items, and new colours for certain in-game equipment.

Death Stranding is a bizarre title, but it’s definitely a game worth checking out for its star-studded cast, compelling storyline, and stunning graphics. If you’re not sure Kojima’s latest game is worth the hype, check out our comprehensive review of the game.
