PlayStation just launched a rather interesting promotion. Dubbed PlayStation Player Celebration, everyone who signs up for the campaign (no purchase necessary!) stands a chance to win a physical, real-life version of the PlayStation Platinum Trophy, RM400 store vouchers, and a number of other freebies.
Of course, as with any given promotion, there are a number of caveats. For one, only two winners will be selected for the physical Platinum Trophy, RM400 voucher, and digital copies of four exclusive PlayStation 4 titles: The Last of Us Remastered, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. That’s right, two winners will walk away with all of these prizes.
On top of that, in order to be selected as one of the two winners, participants are required to answer “a skill-based question” on 17 March at 10AM in Malaysia. Of course, you’ll have to be registered for the PlayStation Player Celebration event beforehand to be able to access the question. The two quickest entrants to answer the question correctly will be deemed the winners.
Needless to say, it’s pretty tough to win the “exclusive PlayStation kit,” and it’s not clear if participants have to compete with other entrants in the same region or just their home country. If it’s decided by region, those of us here in Malaysia are competing with Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, and even New Zealand. It’s a big pool of entrants.
But that’s just one half of the PlayStation Player Celebration event. The other half involves players combining their efforts to unlock rewards. The task? It’s pretty simple: just play games on the PlayStation 4 – at least an hour on each game for it to be counted – and earn trophies. It’s divided into three stages, and each stage will unlock different rewards.
The first stage will earn players an exclusive PlayStation 4 static theme and a PSN avatar. Stage two unlocks five additional PSN avatars, and the last stage gives players a dynamic theme. Naturally, the number of trophies earned and games participants have to play will increase in each stage. In fact, the last stage requires players to earn a whopping 2.7 million trophies and play 675,000 games.
That’s a very high figure, but we reckon there are more than enough PlayStation 4 owners out there to complete all three stages. The first stage will take place on 24 February, and you can sign up for the PlayStation Player Celebration event right here.
