Huawei Nova 7i Retails at RM1,099 in Malaysia; Pre-Orders Begin 14 February
February 10, 2020 Andrew Cheng

The Huawei Nova 7i will be launching in Malaysia on 14 February, and surprisingly enough, the Chinese company revealed the pricing of the mid-range smartphone ahead of its launch. Set to retail at RM1,099, the Nova 7i offers reasonably good value for money.

Huawei revealed the price tag of the Nova 7i over at its official Facebook page. According to the post, the smartphone will be available for pre-order from 14 to 21 February. Those who placed their pre-order in this period will also receive a complimentary Huawei Band 4 fitness band worth RM139, though this is only available while stocks last.

Based on the Huawei Nova 6 SE, which was launched in China late last year, the Nova 7i is a respectable mid-range smartphone. Powered by a Kirin 810 chipset, which is considered to be one of the best upper mid-range processors in the market now, you can expect to get a good level of performance with this smartphone.

On top of that, the Kirin 810 is also built on a 7nm process, giving it an edge when it comes to power efficiency. Complemented by the Nova 7i’s generous 4,200mAh battery, we reckon this phone would be able to return above average battery life.

Did we mention that the Nova 7i supports Huawei’s proprietary 40W SuperCharge technology as well? The company estimates that the phone can charge up to 70% in only 30 minutes.

Besides that, the Nova 7i also has a hole-punch cutout at the top left of the screen, much like the Huawei Nova 5T. The display itself, on the other hand, is a 6.4-inch 2310 x 1080 IPS display with a 83.5% screen-to-body ratio. It’s not the best ratio, but it’s really quite good for a device at this price point.

On the back, the Nova 7i has a square camera module that houses the phone’s quad camera system. It’s made up of a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide angle shooter, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The front-facing camera, on the other hand, is a 16MP shooter.

Other specifications of the Nova 7i include 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and EMUI 10 based on Android 10 out of the box.

Now, even though the Huawei Nova 7i runs on Android 10, it doesn’t ship with Google Mobile Services, so it doesn’t have essential Google apps like the Google Play Store, YouTube, and Gmail pre-installed. Keep this in mind if you’re thinking of pre-ordering this smartphone between 14 to 21 February for RM1,099.
