Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite Offers the S Pen at a Lower Price Point
January 3, 2020 Andrew Cheng

Unveiled alongside the new Galaxy S10 Lite is none other than the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite. Just like its name suggests, the latest Note device offers the utility of the S Pen at a lower price point, along with the same design language as the higher-end Galaxy Note 10 smartphones.

Much like the S10 Lite, the Galaxy Note 10 Lite has a similarly-sized 6.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED Infinity-O Display with a hole-punch cutout at the top of the screen in the middle. Going by the official spec sheet by Samsung, the Note 10 Lite does not have the exact same Super AMOLED Plus display of the S10 Lite, though it remains to be seen just how different the two screens are.

Besides that, the Galaxy Note 10 Lite also comes with the series’ indispensable S Pen. However, this stylus is more similar to the Galaxy Note 9’s S Pen than the latest Note 10. While the Lite model’s S Pen still features Bluetooth connectivity (allowing you to use it as a remote), it doesn’t have the Note 10’s Air Actions gesture controls.

Speaking of the Note 9, the Galaxy Note 10 Lite also shares the same Samsung Exynos 9810 chipset as the former. It’s a curious decision, given that the S10 Lite ships with a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. In comparison, the Exynos 9810 is two whole generations behind the Snapdragon 855; that’s quite a noteworthy (excuse the pun) difference.

Anyway, at least the triple camera configuration of the Galaxy Note 10 Lite is more versatile than the one found in the Note 9. The new Note device features a 12MP f/1.7 primary shooter with Dual Pixel AF and optical image stabilisation, a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle sensor, and a 12MP f/2.4 telephoto lens with OIS.

While the Note 10 Lite doesn’t get the S10 Lite’s 48MP main sensor and macro lens, some may prefer the versatility of the Note’s three focal lengths, though we’d really prefer whichever camera configuration that can take the best-looking shots. The phone’s front-facing camera, on the other hand, is a 32MP f/2.2 shooter.

Other specifications of the Galaxy Note 10 Lite include a generous 4,500mAh battery – that’s even bigger than the higher-end Note 10+’s 4,300mAh cell – 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and Android 10 out of the box.

Not surprisingly, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite’s price and availability have not been disclosed yet, much like how it is with the Galaxy S10 Lite. Nonetheless, expect it to cost less than the flagship Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ phones, and it will be offered in three colour options: Aura Glow, Aura Black, and a striking Aura Red colourway.
