Xiaomi Mi 11 Official – First Snapdragon 888 Phone With 120Hz AMOLED Screen
December 29, 2020 • Andrew Cheng

The very first smartphone powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 888, is here. Enter the Xiaomi Mi 11, which has just been launched in China. Beyond the processor powering the phone, the Mi 11’s other hardware are reasonably high-end too.

Let’s start with the curved display of the Mi 11. It’s a rather sizeable 6.81-inch 1440p AMOLED panel with a fast 120Hz refresh rate, and not only does it has a 480Hz touch sampling rate – making it ideal for gamers that want the best responsiveness – this screen also has a searingly bright max brightness of 1,500 nits along with HDR 10+ certification.

In the camera department, the Mi 11 has a triple camera system made up of a 108MP f/1.85 primary sensor, a 13MP f/2.4 ultra-wide angle shooter, and a 5MP f/2.4 telemacro lens. Not a super sophisticated camera system, but it should be able to capture good-looking shots.

Other specifications of the Mi 11 include a 20MP f/2.4 front-facing camera, a 4,600mAh battery, an in-screen fingerprint sensor – which can even measure heart rate – up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of non-expandable storage, as well as MIUI 12.5 based on Android 10 out of the box.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 is now available for pre-order in China, though the global availability of the flagship smartphone has not been revealed yet. It retails from only 3,999 Chinese yuan (about RM2,480) in Xiaomi’s home country, and it’ll be interesting to see if the Mi 11’s competitive price tag will be retained in other markets too, including Malaysia.
