Xiaomi just revealed its latest smartwatch, the Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite. Basically, it’s the global version of the Redmi Watch, which was recently launched in China. Aside from that, we also have good reason to believe that the affordable smartwatch will be made available in Malaysia very soon.
While we were going through SIRIM’s database, we notice that both Era International Network and Rainbow Distribution registered a smartwatch with the model number REDMIWT02. In the latter’s listing, it’s described as the Mi Watch Lite, signaling that the smartwatch is in fact making its way here.
Design wise, there’s no denying that the Mi Watch Lite looks very similar to the Apple Watch. It has a rectangular 1.4-inch 320 x 320 screen, which is an LCD panel. Of course, it would’ve been great if it was an OLED display instead, but given the affordable positioning of this smartwatch, some sacrifices had to be made.
Other specifications of the Mi Watch Lite include a 230mAh battery that can deliver up to nine days of battery life, a heart rate sensor for activity and sleep monitoring, 11 workout modes, over 120 different watch faces, as well as a 5 ATM water resistance rating.
No word yet on the Malaysian availability or local pricing of the Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite. But given that it has already been registered with SIRIM, we reckon it’s only a matter of time before the smartwatch is officially launched here.
