The 2020 Honda CR-V facelift was launched here in Malaysia just last month, and it has garnered over 1,700 bookings to date. According to Honda Malaysia, this is a 180% increase in bookings within a month. What’s even more impressive is the fact that 1,300 units of the C-segment SUV have already been delivered to customers.
Out of the 1,700 bookings, the 1.5L TC-P 2WD variant of the CR-V – which sits just below the range-topping 1.5L TC-P 4WD trim – is the most popular model, accounting for 45% of the total booking. As for colour option, the Dark Olive Metallic is the most preferred one, with 30% of buyers going for that shade.
Again, with over 1,300 units already delivered, Honda Malaysia “assures that the New CR-V will be delivered to customers in a timely manner.” If you’re worried the SUV wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the 100% tax exemption given by the government – which is ending this month – you can rest easy now.
The facelifted CR-V is offered with two engine options. The base 2.0L 2WD model is powered by a 2.0L SOHC i-VTEC engine that puts out 154PS and 189Nm of torque, while the other two turbo variants are packed with a more powerful 1.5L DOHC VTEC turbocharged engine with 193PS and 243Nm of torque.
Both engine options are paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with drive sent to the front wheels, except for the all-wheel drive 1.5L TC-P 4WD model. Honda LaneWatch is also offered as standard, but only the turbo variants get the Honda Sensing suite of safety features, which include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Low Speed Follow (LSF), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), and Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS).
The facelifted Honda CR-V starts at RM139,912.53 for the 2.0L 2WD trim, and the price goes up to RM157,615.91 and RM162,910.18 for the 1.5L TC-P 2WD and 1.5L TC-P 4WD models respectively. Note that these prices are only valid until 31 December 2020, since the tax exemption period is set to end then. Come 2021, they will go for RM145,400, RM164,300, and RM169,900 respectively.
