Well this is quite a surprise: Ducky announced its first-ever keyboard with a hotswap PCB. This is the 2020 Ducky Year of the Rat limited edition keyboard, which is a collaboration between the Taiwanese company and graffiti artist Bounce.
Every year, Ducky releases a limited edition keyboard that is themed after the Chinese zodiac of the year. Since 2020 is the Year of the Rat, we have this 60% keyboard right here. As mentioned, it’s a collaboration with graffiti artist Bounce, who designed the looks of the keyboard.
What’s particularly interesting about the 2020 Year of the Rat keyboard is its hotswap PCB, which allows users to easily swap out the switches without the need for soldering. According to Ducky, this keyboard is “based on the newest version of Ducky’s hotswap keyboard.” Perhaps this is an indication that the company will release more keyboards with hotswap capability in the future.
Other specifications of the 2020 Year of the Rat keyboard include Cherry MX switches, dye-sublimated PBT keycaps, RGB lighting, a plastic case, a stainless steel plate, plate-mounted stabilisers, and a USB-C connection. All in all, it looks to be a promising 60% keyboard. After all, this is a Ducky product, though it’s worth noting that it is limited to only 2020 units.
Unfortunately, no word yet on the exact pricing or availability of the 2020 Ducky Year of the Rat keyboard, though we’re optimistic it will be sold here in Malaysia soon. After all, Ducky Malaysia itself posted about this keyboard on its Facebook page, and Ducky’s previous Chinese zodiac keyboards eventually made it to our shores as well.
