Huawei Mate 40 Pro Costs RM4,299 in Malaysia; Goes on Sale 12 December
December 7, 2020 Andrew Cheng

Initially unveiled back in October, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro is finally landing in Malaysia later this week. Set to go on sale here on 12 December, only the Pro model will be available on our shores; the more affordable Mate 40 doesn’t seem to be arriving here anytime soon.

Anyway, only one variant of the Mate 40 Pro is offered here in Malaysia. Priced at RM4,299, it features 256GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM. Not particularly generous capacities – especially at this price point – but should be enough for most users.

One of the standout features of the Mate 40 Pro has to be its triple camera system. It’s made up of a 50MP “Ultra Vision” f/1.9 primary sensor, a 20MP f/1.8 ultra-wide angle shooter, and a 12MP f/3.4 periscope telephoto lens that can do 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom. There is also a laser autofocus system to lock in focus quicker and more accurately.

Other specifications of the Mate 40 Pro include a Kirin 9000 chip (fabricated on a 5nm process), a 6.76-inch 1080p OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 13MP f/2.4 selfie camera paired with a 3D depth sensing camera, 5G connectivity, and EMUI 11 based on Android 10 out of the box. Naturally, it still doesn’t come with Google Mobile Services.

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro will be available in Malaysia later this week on 12 December for RM4,299. Those who purchase the flagship phone can also redeem a Huawei Sound X Bluetooth speaker worth RM1,299, though this is limited to 1,000 units. The Sound X speaker can be redeemed through the Huawei Member Center app from 18 to 20 December.
