2020 Toyota Vios Facelift Teased; Launching Together with Yaris Facelift?
November 16, 2020 Andrew Cheng

After opening bookings for the facelifted Yaris earlier this month, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) recently started teasing the 2020 Toyota Vios facelift on its Facebook page. Chances are, both the new Vios and Yaris will be launched together in the near future.

In fact, the updated Vios was actually teased together with its hatchback sibling side by side. It would make a lot of sense for the two models to be launched simultaneously; both of them are essentially the same B-segment car, only with different body styles.

Given the similarities it shares with the new Yaris, the facelifted Vios should feature similar – if not the exact same – equipment. The range-topping G model, for one, should be equipped with Toyota Safety Sense. It includes two major features: Pre-Collision System (PCS) and Lane Departure Alert (LDA). The former warns the driver and automatically applies the brakes when there’s a risk of frontal collision, while LDA alerts the driver when the car is unintentionally getting out of lane.

Under the hood of the new Vios should be the same Dual VVT-i 2NR-FE 1.5L engine that outputs 107PS and 140Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels by a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with seven-speed Shiftmatic mode. Of course, the infotainment system should be updated to support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well.

No word yet on exactly when the new Toyota Vios will be launched or open for booking, but now that UMWT is already teasing the facelifted B-segment sedan, we expect it to happen very soon. As for pricing, expect it to cost slightly more than the Yaris. You can register your interest for the updated Vios right here.
