Official: You Don’t Need to Scan MySejahtera When Refuelling
November 10, 2020 Andrew Cheng

Many were confused whether or not they would need to use the MySejahtera app when they’re refuelling at a fuel station, and we finally have the answer to this conundrum. Basically, if you’re not entering the shop itself, and there is no face-to-face interaction involved, you don’t need to use the MySejahtera app.

This was confirmed by Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a press briefing. Those who are refuelling either with a credit or debit card – where no face-to-face interaction with another individual is involved – there is no need at all to look for a MySejahtera QR code to scan.

Even if you’re paying for your fuel with cash, you won’t have use the MySejahtera app if you’re not entering the shop itself. So long as you’re using the provided counter outside of the store to perform the payment, you’re good to go; no scanning is required.

However, if you are entering the shop, toilet, or surau, it is required to scan the MySejahtera QR code. Failure to do so will entail a RM1,000 fine.
