Initially unveiled at CES 2020 earlier this year, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold is now available for purchase in Malaysia. What makes the X1 Fold particularly unique is its foldable screen; it’s touted as the world’s first PC with such a feature.
Naturally, you do have to pay a premium for such a unique form factor. The ThinkPad X1 Fold starts at a cool RM10,849 for the Malaysian market. For that kind of money, you’re getting an Intel Core i5-L16G7 processor paired with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage, and of course, the 13.3-inch 2048 x 1536 flexible touch-enabled OLED screen.
Thanks to the foldable OLED screen, the ThinkPad X1 Fold can practically transform into various form factors. When it’s completely unfolded, you can use it as a large tablet. You can even prop it up with the built-in stand of the leather folio and connect the X1 Fold to a wireless keyboard to get the functionality of a laptop. After all, this machine runs on Windows 10 Home out of the box.
Then again, RM10,849 – and this is the starting price – for the ThinkPad X1 Fold is a lot of money for any laptop or tablet. Granted, you’re getting a very unique product, but it’s still an unproven form factor at the moment. Of course, we will reserve judgment until we have the X1 Fold in for review.
If you’re keen to get your hands on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold, you can do so over at Lenovo Malaysia’s online store. According to the listing, the X1 Fold will only start shipping to consumers in “more than eight weeks,” which is quite a bit of wait.
