Apple’s iPhone 12 Series Coming on 14 October
October 7, 2020 Andrew Cheng

It’s a little bit later than usual, but here it is: Apple just set an event for 14 October (Malaysian time) next week. Chances are, the Cupertino company will be introducing its latest iPhone at the event; a month later than it usually does.

In typical Apple fashion, the invite for the event is a very simple one. The teaser image shows the Apple logo surrounded by four circles – perhaps a hint at the four possible variants of the iPhone 12 – with the phrase “Hi, Speed.” This is likely a nod at the improved performance of the new iPhone, courtesy of the A14 Bionic chip.

There are plenty of rumours surrounding the upcoming iPhone 12 series, and one of the most prevalent leaks is the fact that there could be four different iPhones. These four models will supposedly range from a compact 5.4-inch variant to a much bigger 6.7-inch option; the latter would be the largest iPhone yet if this leak turns out to be accurate.

Another interesting rumour also suggests that all of the iPhones set to be introduced this year will be sporting OLED screens, which is great. Compared to LCD panels, OLED displays have deeper blacks, more vibrant colours, and generally more pleasant to look at. This is a good upgrade, but unfortunately enough, the refresh rate of the screen will supposedly be kept at 60Hz.

We’ll hear more on the new iPhone 12 from Apple itself next week on 14 October. The live stream will start at 1AM Malaysian time.
