2020 Honda City Features Honda Sensing Safety Suite; CKD Production Ongoing
September 26, 2020 Andrew Cheng

As we approach the local launch of the 2020 Honda City, Honda Malaysia is sharing more details on the new B-segment sedan. Not only is CKD production of the City already happening, the Japanese carmaker also confirmed that the range-topping City RS i-MMD will feature the Honda Sensing safety suite.

Thanks to the addition of Honda Sensing, the City RS will be one of the safest sedans in its segment. The safety suite includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and even Auto High-Beam (AHB).

Yes, it’s quite an exhaustive list of safety features.

Aside from that, CKD production of the fifth generation City is currently ongoing as well, so there’s a good chance customers will be able to get the car as soon as it is officially launched. That means the City will be able to enjoy the 100% sales tax exemption introduced by the government for locally assembled CKD models.

To recap, four variants of the City will be offered in Malaysia, including the range-topping RS i-MMD hybrid variant. Unlike the other three models – which will be powered by a 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine that churns out 121PS and 145Nm of torque – the RS’ powertrain can deliver 253Nm of torque, thanks to the hybrid’s electric motor.

The all-new fifth generation Honda City is set to be launched locally in Q4 2020, so we can expect the B-segment sedan to be officially introduced as early as next month in October. Booking for the City is now open as well – customers who have placed a booking will receive a RM1,000 service voucher with a one-year validity.
