Malaysian availability of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is finally revealed. Set to arrive here on 25 September, the foldable smartphone will be open for pre-order this Friday on 11 September. To sweeten the deal, every pre-order will be bundled with some freebies too.

Given the premium positioning of the Galaxy Z Fold 2, it’s naturally a very costly smartphone, retailing at a cool RM7,999 on our shores. It’s worth noting that the Z Fold 2 actually costs slightly less over the original Galaxy Fold, which retailed at RM8,388 when it was first launched here.

As mentioned, there are also a number of freebies that are bundled with every pre-order of the Galaxy Z Fold 2. These include a pair of Galaxy Buds Live wireless earbuds worth RM699, as well as a Montblanc card holder worth RM655. Pretty good accessories to go with the premium foldable smartphone.

Aside from that, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 also comes with a sizeable 7.6-inch 2208 x 1768 Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a fast 120Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the high refresh rate, every single animation on this panel will look extra smooth. It’s definitely a good upgrade over the original Fold’s more conventional 60Hz screen.

Also worth a mention is the 6.2-inch 2260 x 816 Super AMOLED “cover screen” on the exterior of the Z Fold 2. It covers almost the entire front of the foldable phone, giving it a sleeker, more modern aesthetic compared to its predecessor. On top of that, you also get more screen space to work with now, though the tall, narrow aspect ratio of the display can be cumbersome to use.

In the camera department, the Z Fold 2 features a triple camera system (12MP f/1.8 primary + 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle + 12MP f/2.4 telephoto) as well as two 10MP selfie camera. One is housed in a hole-punch cutout on the cover screen, while the other is placed in the same cutout on the bigger primary display.

Other specifications of the Z Fold 2 include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chipset paired with 12GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, 5G connectivity, a 4,500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging – 11W for wireless charging – and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
