Lenovo Legion Slim 7i Touted As World’s Lightest 15″ RTX Gaming Laptop
September 1, 2020 Andrew Cheng

Lenovo introduced a number of new laptops recently, and one of the most interesting machines unveiled is the Lenovo Legion Slim 7i. It’s touted by the Chinese company to be the “world’s lightest 15-inch RTX gaming laptop,” and tipping the scales at 1.86kg, it’s certainly a lightweight gaming machine.

True to its name, the Legion Slim 7i is quite a thin gaming laptop as well. Its chassis measures only 17.9mm, making it one of the slimmest gaming laptops in the market. In fact, it’s on par with the equally slim Acer Predator Triton 500, which also has a 17.9mm thin body.

Despite its lightweight and slim nature, the Legion Slim 7i is still packed with a rather generous 71WHr battery. According to Lenovo, this allows the Slim 7i to last up to 7.75 hours on a single charge. For a gaming laptop, this is quite a respectable battery life, though it remains to be seen if it can actually last this long.

Besides that, powering the Legion Slim 7i is none other than Intel’s latest 10th generation chips. In fact, the highest-end model can be configured with a fast Core i9-10980HK processor. It can also be paired with 32GB of RAM and a whopping 2TB SSD, which are generous capacities that will be enough for most folks.

In the graphics department, the Legion Slim 7i is configurable with an Nvidia RTX 2060 Max-Q GPU; this is the most powerful GPU available for this gaming laptop. Granted, the RTX 2060 Max-Q isn’t the fastest GPU in the market, but it does come with sought-after RTX-specific features like ray tracing and Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS).

Further enhancing the gaming experience of the Legion Slim 7i is the 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080 screen with a fast 144Hz refresh rate. This makes it perfect for fast-paced games like Apex Legends and Valorant, as the high refresh rate gives better motion clarity than conventional 60Hz panels.

If you want a more pixel-dense display, there’s also an option for a sharper 4K IPS screen, though the refresh rate is only limited to 60Hz.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 7i will be available for purchase from October 2020 onwards; Malaysian availability of the gaming laptop has not been revealed yet. As for pricing, the Slim 7i is set to retail from $1,329 (about RM5,505) in the US.
