Not long after UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) started teasing the 2020 Toyota Vios facelift, bookings for the new B-segment sedan are now open. On top of that, we have estimated pricing of the updated Vios too. Set to retail from RM75,701 to RM89,232, the sedan is priced very closely to its closest competition, the 2020 Honda City.
Three variants of the Vios are offered in Malaysia. The base J variant is said to cost RM75,701.00, while the mid-tier E model goes for RM85,674. As for the range-topping G trim, it is priced at RM89,232. Interestingly, these estimated prices are with SST included, which suggests that deliveries for the car may only begin next year.
After all, the 100% sales tax exemption for locally assembled (CKD) cars is only valid until the end of 2020.
Anyway, just like the facelifted Yaris, the new Vios will come with Toyota Safety Sense. The two safety features highlighted are Pre-Collision System (PCS) and Lane Departure Alert (LDA). PCS automatically applies the brakes – and warns the driver – when there’s a risk of frontal collision, while LDA will alert the driver if the car is unintentionally going out of lane.
Under the hood of the facelifted Vios should be the familiar Dual VVT-i 2NR-FE 1.5L engine that does 107PS and 140Nm of torque paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with seven-speed Shiftmatic mode. On top of that, the new sedan will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well.
The facelifted Toyota Vios is now available for booking at Toyota showrooms nationwide. More details on the new B-segment sedan can be found here.
