Asus ZenBook Pro Duo & ZenBook Duo Now in Malaysia; Costs up to RM15,999
November 14, 2019 Andrew Cheng

Asus just launched the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo and ZenBook Duo in Malaysia. What makes these two laptops particularly interesting is the ScreenPad Plus secondary display, which is placed right above the keyboards of both machines. It may sound like a gimmick, but it could just be the tool some creative professionals need.

Let’s start with the higher-end offering of the two, the aptly named ZenBook Pro Duo. It features a wide 14-inch 3840 x 1100 ScreenPad Plus secondary display, a stunning 15.6-inch 4K OLED display, and two processor options: an Intel Core i7-9750H or a beefier Core i9-9980HK chip.

In the graphics department, the ZenBook Pro Duo comes with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 GPU. While an Nvidia Quadro GPU would be better suited for creative professionals – the target audience of this laptop – the RTX 2060 will still do. After all, you can do some gaming on the side with this GPU instead of a Quadro solution.

Other specifications of the ZenBook Pro Duo include 32GB of RAM, a 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, two USB-A ports, a USB-C connection, and one HDMI output. Surprisingly enough, this laptop has a limited connectivity options despite its large chassis.

Pricing wise, the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo retails at RM12,999 and a whopping RM15,999 for the Core i7 and Core i9 models respectively. Yes, it’s a costly laptop.

If you want something more affordable, there’s the ZenBook Duo. Not only does it cost less, it’s also a much more portable laptop, thanks to its compact form factor. After all, it has a smaller 14-inch 1920 x 1080 display and a 12.6-inch Full HD ScreenPad Plus secondary screen. That’s right, it also has a screen above the keyboard like its higher-end sibling.

However, given its lower price point, the ZenBook Duo isn’t quite as powerful. It’s only powered by a Core i5-10210U or Core i7-10510U processor, and its GeForce MX250 GPU pales in comparison to the Pro Duo’s much beefier RTX 2060.

Then again, as mentioned, the ZenBook Duo is a more portable machine: it weighs only 1.5kg with a 19.9mm thin chassis. Compare this to the ZenBook Pro Duo, which tips the scales at 2.5kg, along with a thicker 24mm profile.

Two variants of the Asus ZenBook Duo are available in our market. The Core i5 model with 8GB of RAM goes for RM4,699, while the Core i7 variant with 16GB of RAM retails at RM5,699; both models also has a 512GB SSD. Just like the ZenBook Pro Duo, the ZenBook Duo is now available for purchase in Malaysia.
