OnePlus just announced an update to the OnePlus 7, which was released back in May this year. Aptly dubbed OnePlus 7T, it has a more sophisticated camera system now, along with a feature that’s been trickled down from the OnePlus 7 Pro: the Fluid AMOLED display.

That’s right, the OnePlus 7T is a much more attractive smartphone than its direct predecessor, thanks to the addition of the Fluid AMOLED display with a fast 90Hz refresh rate. Compared to conventional 60Hz panels, you’ll definitely notice the extra smoothness with the 90Hz display.

The OnePlus 7T also has a slightly bigger 6.55-inch 2400 x 1080 display than the OnePlus 7, though it’s not quite as impressive as the Pro model’s sharper and bigger 6.67-inch 1440p screen.

Unlike the OnePlus 7 Pro’s sleek all-screen design, the 7T still retains the notch at the top of the display. Fortunately, OnePlus says that the notch is exactly 31.6% smaller than the one on the OnePlus 7, so it’s not all bad. On top of that, it is also a HDR10+ panel.

As for the OnePlus 7T’s camera system, it is now a triple camera system housed in a circular module. It’s made up of a 48MP f/1.6 primary sensor, a 12MP f/2.2 telephoto lens, and a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle shooter. It can also shoot 4K videos at 60fps, not to mention 960fps slow-motion video recording.

However, the 970fps recording is only limited to 720p, and it will be made available through an OTA update at a later date.

Interestingly, the OnePlus 7T is a faster smartphone than its Pro counterpart. Instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, the 7T comes with the newer and more capable Snapdragon 855+ SoC. Compared to the regular Snapdragon 855, the 855+ promises up to 15% better performance, thanks to the overclocked CPU and GPU.

Other specifications of the OnePlus 7T include 8GB of RAM, 128GB of fast UFS 3.0 storage, an in-display fingerprint sensor, a 3,800mAh battery, and a 16MP f/2.0 front-facing camera. Naturally, it also ships with OxygenOS based on Android 10 out of the box.

The OnePlus 7T will be available for purchase in the US from 18 October onwards for $599, which comes up to about RM2,505. It remains to be seen exactly when the flagship phone will be coming to Malaysia, but we reckon it will arrive here eventually like the OnePlus 7 Pro.
