Vivo is set to introduce its latest smartphone, the Vivo S1, in Malaysia tomorrow. In fact, the smartphone is actually available for pre-order right now, which offers RM100 discount and a complimentary Vshare K1 Bluetooth speaker worth RM99.
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly smartphone with long battery life, the Vivo S1 is right up your alley. Now, let’s see what this phone has to offer.
One of the biggest selling points of the S1 is its large 4,500mAh battery. Paired with a 6.38-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display and a MediaTek Helio P65 chipset, this phone should have really good battery life. At the very least, we reckon it can offer a day’s worth of usage, even for heavy smartphone users.
Yes, this phone has a MediaTek chipset, which may not be everyone’s cup of tea. While MediaTek chips are not quite as popular or as desirable in comparison to Qualcomm’s offerings, the Helio P65 is still a 12nm SoC, making it a power-efficient chipset. On top of that, it’s also a 2GHz octa-core processor; it should be able to offer reasonably good processing power.
That being said, until we actually got our hands on the device, we’ll reserve judgment on the performance of the Helio P65.
Chipset aside, the S1 also comes with an in-screen fingerprint sensor, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. If that amount of space is not quite enough for you, you can easily add more storage with a microSD card slot. The S1 supports cards up to 256GB.
In the camera department, the S1 has a triple camera system on the back. The primary sensor is a 16MP f/1.78 shooter, which is complemented by an 8MP f/2.2 wide angle camera and a 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor. As for the front-facing camera, it’s a 32MP f/2.0 shooter.
Those who are keen to pre-order the Vivo S1 can do so at all Vivo retail stores nationwide. Of course, a RM50 deposit is required to secure your order, but a RM100 instant rebate will be given for the phone, along with a Vshare K1 Bluetooth speaker worth RM99.
Want the convenience of online pre-order instead? Well, you can place your order on a number of e-commerce platforms, including Shopee and Lazada. While you will only receive a RM50 discount on these platforms instead of the RM100 rebate, RM150 worth of “mystery gifts” will be included with the pre-order.
The Vivo S1 will be officially introduced in Malaysia tomorrow on 24 July. Stay tuned for our hands-on of the smartphone then!
