It wasn’t that long ago when the Redmi 7A was registered with SIRIM, and now, the budget-centric smartphone is officially available in Malaysia. Two variants of the phone are available here, and it retails from only RM399 – that’s quite an attractive price tag.

Of course, that’s for the base model of the Redmi 7A, which comes with 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM. The 32GB model (also with 2GB RAM), on the other hand, retails for slightly more at RM439.

This definitely make the Redmi 7A one of the most affordable smartphones in the market now, and it should be in your list if you’re looking for a budget-friendly smartphone. Given the small price difference between the two variants, it’s definitely worth it to go for the 32GB model instead.

However, only the 16GB variant of the Redmi 7A is sold online: it will be available for purchase on Shopee this 22 July, and 26 July for Lazada. If you want the 32GB model, you’ll have to visit your nearest Authorised Mi Store. Both variants of the Redmi 7A are now available from these retail outlets.

Alternatively, you can always get the 32GB Redmi 7A from Xiaomi global’s official store on Shopee. It still comes with local warranty support (albeit only for six months instead of a year), and the best part is, it’s slightly more affordable at RM419.

However, if you want longer warranty period for the extra peace of mind, it would be better to get the Redmi 7A from an Authorised Mi Store. It’s only RM20 more to get a year’s warranty instead of only six months.

For its asking price, the Redmi 7A is decently equipped. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset, a microSD card slot for easy storage expansion, as well as a generous 4,000mAh battery. In the camera department, it features a single 12MP f/2.2 rear camera, and a 5MP f/2.2 front-facing shooter.

As far as looks are concerned, the Redmi 7A is…decidedly average-looking. There are thick bezels surrounding the 5.45-inch 720p IPS display, it looks plasticky, and it still uses a microUSB connection. But hey, this is a RM399 smartphone – there’s only so much you can ask for.

Now that the Redmi 7A is officially available here, the Mi Band 4 may follow suit in the near future. After all, it’s already been registered with SIRIM last week.
